[edit] Greater IBM Community Charter & Member Guidelines

Code of Conduct

The first guiding principle of all interactions between members of The Greater IBM Connection is the IBM Value that is relevant to both alumni and current IBMers: Personal trust and responsibility in all relationships.

While this wiki will help develop more specific details on how Greater IBMers are expected to conduct themselves, this precept really goes to the heart of the culture we hope to instill in Greater IBM from the start.

Members of Greater IBM are part of the broader Xing community, which offers these general rules of conduct. And current IBMers are obliged to follow the Business Conduct Guidelines that all employees must agree to each year. And IBMers past or present are part of a long tradition of progressive social policies and ethical business behavior. To that end, the creation of our Code of Conduct will be a collaborative and democratic process.

Group Creation of Charter & Guidelines

IBM's own corporate blogging guidelines were created by a team using a wiki, and have become the model that many other companies and organizations have emulated. The membership of Greater IBM are encouraged to actively participate in the formulation of the guidelines governing how our community operates. To that end, here are a few topics to stimulate our collaboration. Participants are encouraged to begin by contributing additional topics or sections that will round out the structure and organization of our collective code of conduct:

Community Governance

To fulfill the goal of making alumni IBMers co-creators in the evolution and development of Greater IBM, a Board of Advisors will include an equal number of current and former IBMers.

Identity Integrity

Greater IBM is intended for alumni and current IBMers to connect. Anyone who misrepresents themselves as an alumnus of IBM, or who is not who they say they are in their Profile, will be removed from the Group.

Recourse for Disruptive Behavior

Greater IBM was created for the positive and productive benefit of all members. It is intended to serve as a hub for business and innovation opportunities, social interaction and community-oriented collaboration. Any behavior or actions that are fundamentally detrimental or destructive to these shared purposes, in the view of a representative cross-section of members, is prohibited.

Intellectual Property

To make Greater IBM a truly productive community where members can do real work together that will benefit all, the network should be considered an open forum for innovation, perhaps under the mantle of the Creative Commons model.
