IBM Acronyms have led to a very special language used by IBMers worldwide. These acronyms and abbreviations can be product specific, business unit specific or general business terms and are part of the corporate culture. Some of them have changed over the years, while others have been the same forever.

AAS - Advanced Administration System - an IBM US administrative system used to book orders, ship and track orders, and manage installation and inventory of DPD equipment. Eventually used for most of IBM US orders and shipments.
AoD - Applications on Demand
AP - Asia-Pacific, a geography: Asia Pacific consists of all countries (excluding the former republics of USSR, which are part of CER) and their outlying islands in Asia, and the countries and islands in the Pacific Ocean.
ASEAN - IBM Asia Pacific's "Association of South East Asian Nations" Region headquartered in Singapore
ASPA - IBM's "Asia South Pacific Area" headquartered in Hong Kong

BAU - Business-as-usual: 1. Indicating that growth in the territory will be done organically, rather than through targeted investments. 2. Also used to describe that things are done the way they usually are, or always have been. "We know how to do this". No surprises. No innovation.
BCRS - Business Continuity and Recovery Services. Previously known and BRS- Business Recovery Services
BCS - IBM Business Consulting Services
BLF -- Business leadership forum
BPM -- Business Process Management

CAT - Commissions Adjustment Transaction. An IBM US system to modify commissions paid to sales reps and systems engineers.
CEO - Chief Executive Officer: The highest-ranking corporate officer or executive officer of a corporation, company, or agency. In IBM, this position is currently held by Sam Palmisano.
CHQ - Corporate Headquarters
CCR - Corporate Community Relations (IBM Programs to support e.g. Non-Profit Organisations)
CPE - Common Portal Engine

DPP - Design Partner Program: A way to involve users and customers in product development and design decisions. Typically the user will meet with the development team once a month.

LOB - Line of Business: A Line of Business is a particular legal entity or market segment within a larger business. IBM's lines of business include Global Services, eServer, and Software Group, among others.
